Tory police tsar choice selected

A COUNCILLOR has been selected to stand as the Tory candidate for Humberside’s first police commissioner.

Coun Matthew Grove was the only candidate at a meeting in Goole last night. He was elected to East Riding Council in 2007 and will stand against Lord Prescott in the November elections.

Coun Grove said the police service was the “last great unreformed public service”. He added: “I would rather be unknown with a clean slate and a track record that shows me to be a person of principles who cares about local issues.”
