Tourism campaign to be scaled back

The Yorkshire tourism agency will have £750,000 slashed from its budget but was spared a proposed additional £1m cut to its funds.

It is understood Welcome to Yorkshire will now have to scale down what has been a high-profile campaign to bring UK and international visitors to the region.

Chief executive Gary Verity said: "We have been working with Yorkshire Forward during the last few weeks to find the best solution and we will continue to work with them.

"We will certainly continue to push hard for Yorkshire at a time when it is vital for businesses in our region that we bring visitors here".
