Tower ballroom...

ballroom dancers Michelle and Trevor Daniel-Martin took to the floor yesterday – at historic Clifford’s Tower in York.

The tower has been transformed into an open-air ballroom as part of a festival to shed new light on the city. A 3ft-wide mirror ball has been placed there as part of the Illuminating York festival, the annual digital arts and lighting showcase which runs from tomorrow until Saturday. Visitors will be able to take advantage of the dancing lights reflecting off the mirror ball to wander – or dance – around the courtyard.

The festival has previously illuminated some of the city’s most famous landmarks, including York Minster, with spectacular light displays. This year, the former Women’s Prison at York Castle Museum transformed in an audio-visual spectacular.
