The Bridlington Town Crier, whose booming 114 decibel voice won him a world record, has been asked to be the town crier of the fictional Walmington-on-Sea when filming takes place in Bridlington later this month.

Mr Hinde expects to pick up a cheque for £75 from the film’s producers which will help offset the recent purchase of a new tricorn hat which set him back £550 from his own pocket.

Mr Hinde, 58, who lives in nearby Bempton, said: “I am thriled to be part of this iconic film and will be proud to be an extra in the St George’s Day parade as Walmington-on-Sea’s town crier.

“The movie is promoting the Old Town of Bridlington, which is a wonderful part of town. We want more visitors and clearly this is going to have a big impact on people wanting to come and stay.”

Mr Hinde said his father Cyril, 86, would be thrilled if he made the final cut of the film.

The cast includes Catherine Zeta Jones. Shooting began last week and continues over coming weeks.
