Town goes live for top music festival

BANDS including James and The Enemy will be descending on Bingley this weekend.

Preparations are well underway for the Bingley Music Live which starts today with organisers hoping that the weather stays fine.

The three-day music festival at Myrtle Park, Bingley, is organised by Bradford Council and there are still some tickets left.

Acts over the weekend include Buzzcocks, James, Public Image Ltd, Example, The Enemy and Seasick Steve.

Local musical talent from West Yorkshire includes Jasmine Kennedy, The Mexanines, Black Diamond Bay and The Dawnriders.

The event will also feature the Craig Charles Fantasy Funk Band, a band put together by BBC 6 Music DJ and actor in Red Dwarf and Coronation Street Craig Charles. He formed the Fantasy Funk Band in 2009 with help from listeners to his Funk and Soul Show on 6Music.

Gates open today at 5.30pm and the concert finishes at 10pm.

Tomorrow gates open at 11.30am and the concert finishes at 9.30pm and on Sunday gates open at 11.30am and the concert finishes at 8.30pm. All times are approximate.

A free park and ride will run on all days of the festival from the Bradford & Bingley Headquarters, Croft Road, Crossflatts to Myrtle Park.

Tonight's entertainment is free but advance tickets for the weekend costing 30 plus booking fee.

Day tickets at 20 plus booking fee are still available. Tickets bought online must now be collected in person at the box office on-site.

Tickets will be on sale over the weekend at the on-site ticket office. Weekend tickets will cost 35 and day tickets will cost 25.
