Town launches new marketing drive

Market traders in the Yorkshire Dales have helped create tens of thousands of new leaflets in a bid to boost tourism in one of the national park’s most historic towns.

The Welcome to Settle leaflet has been funded by the town’s chamber of trade, council and market traders to promote Settle as a great place to visit, shop and stay.

Over 20,000 copies of the leaflet, which was put together by volunteers from the Vibrant Settle Community Partnership, are set to be distributed across the region.

The historic Settle Indoor and Outdoor Markets are prominently featured in recognition of the valuable role they play in attracting visitors to the town. Also featured are the variety of independent shops, pubs, cafes, galleries and guesthouses along with tourist attractions such as the Settle-Carlisle Railway.

Settle town councillor Steve Amphlett said: “The economic sustainability of Settle absolutely depends on our ability to attract more visitors to the town who will spend their money in our local businesses. Without the very great contribution that the visitors make, many of our local shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs would really struggle.”
