Traditional ploughing skills celebrated

The largest ploughing match in the country took place in Epworth, near Doncaster, to celebrate the traditions and methods used by Yorkshire's agricultural community in days gone by.

The 30th anniversary celebrations of The Festival of the Plough – which has raised over 200,000 since its inception – took place at High Burnham Farm and featured more than a 100 vintage tractors and ploughmen taking part in the competitive ploughing competitions. In addition Shire horses and a working steam threshing machine were on display.
