Traffic warning as roadworks begin

The improvements are being made at the left-hand turn into Abbey Lane from Meadowhead and are aimed at improving the flow of traffic.

Consultations on works at both this junction and the Meadowhead roundabout were carried out by Sheffield Council last year.

John Charlton, the council's director of Street Force, said: "The improvements at the Abbey Lane junction follows the consultation carried out over the winter period.

"We will be on site from the start of the week, but construction work will not begin until Thursday, May 6 when the traffic lanes will be affected.

"We are sorry for the inconvenience this work may cause, but we will do our best to avoid disruption to traffic and it will be completed as quickly as possible."
