Train set found in attic to boost hospice funds

A TOY train set and railway memorabilia which were found in the attic of a Sheffield house are expected to raise more than £1,000 for the city's St Luke's Hospice.

The store of Hornby 00 gauge engines and carriages, along with books, rare prints and railway jigsaws, came to light when staff were called in to clear a property that had been left to the charity.

Chris Quinlan from St Luke's said: "The estate agent told us not to forget to look in the loft.

"So we went up and there we found this fabulous train set, complete with station buildings and all the rolling stock, all in great condition.

"Even better, as we started to clear everything out, we found all the original boxes."

Altogether, the items are expected to raise at least 1,000 and are being sold through the hospice's Ecclesall Road shop.

Mr Quinlan added: "We anticipate these items will sell very quickly."
