Transport police's plea over suspect

BRITISH Transport Police issued an appeal for information in order to trace a Leeds man wanted for suspected offences related to cable theft in Essex.

Simon Paul Scott, 42, originally from the Leeds area but now of no fixed abode, was arrested at the Boreham Interchange near Chelmsford in Essex on December 21.

He was questioned and bailed to return to speak to police officers on January 26 but failed to appear.

Network Rail has put up a 1,000 reward for anyone providing information leading to his arrest.

"Scott, who is originally from Leeds, is wanted for further questioning in connection with cable-theft related offences in the Chelmsford area of Essex," said BTP Chief Inspector Jason Bunyard.

He added: "He is known to frequent a number of towns in the east-Essex area, but we believe that he may well have returned to Leeds after skipping bail.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact police.

Information can also be passed to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
