Transport summit to set out priorities

A SUMMIT is to be held at Leeds City College in Keighley to help to create routes for better regeneration.

Transport and connectivity is the theme of the next Bradford District Regeneration Summit on July 15, from 8.15am to 1pm.

The summit will focus on setting district transport priorities in the context of the recently-published Leeds City Region transport vision and provide an input into the Local Transport Plan.

The chairman, Coun Ghazanfer Khaliq, Executive Member for Environment and Sustainability, will open the summit followed by Vanessa Gilbert, Divisional Director at the Highways Agency, who will give the keynote speech.

Coun Khaliq, who has responsibility for highways, said: "These regeneration summits help bring key players together to discuss what will help the area prosper and it is clear that good transport links are fundamental to the success of our local economy.

"We need to discuss transport in the context of the Leeds City Region Transport Strategy, and also ensure that the impact of transport on people and communities are considered in future developments.

"We already do a wide range of work in relation to transport issues and we want to build on that work."
