Alarm as another toddler walks out of a Bradford nursery

AN inquiry has been launched after a three-year-old child walked out of a Bradford nursery and through a car park without being noticed by staff.

Kayden Newitt went missing from the nursery at Carrwood Primary School, Holme Wood, on October 2 while his mother waited outside the front gate.

He was found in a nearby park by the fellow parent of another pupil.

It is the second reported case this week of toddlers walking out of Bradford nurseries. In the previous case, another three-year-old boy walked out of his nursery, across a busy main road and into a supermarket.

Kayden’s father, Christopher Newitt, 32, said: “It’s ridiculous. We are on edge all of the time now. What if it happens again? What could have happened? My wife has been having dreams about it.”

Carrwood School executive headteacher Nigel Cooper said: “We have met with the family, explained the circumstances and apologised.

“As a result of our inquiries within the nursery, we have changed procedures to ensure this never happens again.”
