Spring Bank West will be reduced to one lane eastbound from February 13 to June 24 during the final phase of a £14 million project by Northern Powergrid to upgrade the city’s power network.

Dave Smith, Northern Powergrid’s project engineer, said they would try to minimise disruption, but they needed to upgrade the network so it was fit for the future.

Coun Martin Mancey said he was concerned about delays, adding: “Secondly my concern is that the council will be blamed for something over which we have no control.”
