Cyclist injured in crash near Harrogate

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a cyclist was seriously injured on the B6451 near Harrogate.

The 44-year-old from Harrogate was riding a blue racing cycle towards the A59 near the Sun Inn at Norwood, with another cycle following him. The rider of the cycle lost control and fell from his bike, sustaining serious head injuries. He was taken to Leeds General Infirmary where he remains in a serious but stable condition. No other vehicles are believed to have been involved.

Traffic Constable Steve James of Harrogate Road Policing Group, said: “I would like to speak to anyone who saw two cycles travelling along the B6451 between 9pm and 9.30pm on Monday 13 April. Both cycles were displaying lights and would have been clearly visible.”
