Driver seriously injured after car crashed into tree in Hull

A DRIVER was seriously injured this morning after the car he was driving left Hessle Road in Hull and crashed into a tree.

Police were called to the scene of the crash on Hessle Road near the junction with Pickering Road just before 6am today. (May 16)

The blue Renault Megane caught fire after it left the road and crashed into a tree.

Fire crews used hydraulic cutting equipment to free the man from the wreckage following the crash.

A blaze in the car’s engine compartment was extinguished and firefighters gave the man oxygen at the scene.

Police said the driver, believed to be aged in his thirties, suffered “very serious” injuries. He was taken to hospital for treatment.

A Humberside Police spokesman said: “The roads in the area are closed while emergency services respond to the incident.”
