Driver watches as his car is driven through brick wall on MOT test

A MECHANIC drove a gleaming Mercedes right through the back wall of a garage as he tried to run an MOT test.

The grey E-Class had been left for its annual test at Cherry’s MOT Centre in Chesterfield.

The unnamed owner was sitting in the waiting area when he heard an almighty bang and went to see his pride and joy lodged in the wall.

The MOT tester is thought to have pressed the accelerator not knowing the automatic car had been left in drive.

The Mercedes is to get a new front end - and the garage was left in need of a bricklayer.

Garage owner Alan Cherry said the incident “was an accident and no one was to blame”.
