Funeral for tragic toddler Angel, knocked down by dad’s car

A FUNERAL will be held in Leeds tomorrow for tragic Leeds toddler Angel Pitts, who died after being knocked down by a car driven by her father.

Angel, aged 16 months, died after the incident at Cromwell Mount in Belle Isle on Saturday, June 14.

Parents Megin Darch and Scott Pitts have described it as a ‘tragic accident’ and are asking those in attendance at the funeral tomorrow to wear bright colours in tribute to their young daughter.

Angel’s funeral is due to take place at Cottingley Cemetery tomorrow afternoon.

In a joint statement, Angel’s parents said: “Angel Jackie-Jean Pitts died aged 16 months.

“Her funeral will take place on Thursday, June 26, leaving from our house at 1pm taking our last walk with her to Cottingley Cemetery where the ceremony will begin at 2pm.

“We are hoping for people to be wearing animal onesies or Disney dress up, if not just bright colours.

“Anybody is welcome to pay their respects to her.

“Any donations are welcome, all to go to the Sweet Dreams charity that provides memory boxes at hospitals for parents that have lost a child.

“This was a tragic accident that her father did not see coming and could have never imagined it happening.

“We would like to thank everyone for their support at this tragic time.”

Angel was struck by a black Toyota Avensis at around 7.30pm on Saturday, June 14.

Despite desperate attempts by neighbours and paramedics to save her, she was confirmed dead after arriving at Leeds General Infirmary.

The south Leeds cul de sac was closed shortly after the accident while police inquiries took place.
