Gun death in police station

A POLICE officer has died after a firearms incident at a city police station.

Strathclyde Police said the incident took place at Baird Street police station in Glasgow yesterday.

Assistant Chief Constable Bernard Higgins said: “It is with great sadness that I have to tell you that a serving Strathclyde Police officer died today in an incident where a firearm was discharged at Baird Street police office.

“Our thoughts are with the officer’s family and friends at this difficult time.”

No one else is understood to have been involved in the incident and an investigation is underway.
