Hotel in Rotherham evacuated after fire breaks out in cellar

Guests at a hotel in Rotherham had to evacuate the building after a drinks chiller caught fire.

Firefighters attended the Fitzwilliam Arms on Taylors Lane at around 11.15pm on Saturday, September 26.

Crews from Rotherham, Elm Lane and Parkway fire stations entered the building wearing breathing apparatus to search for the source of the fire, which was found to be the cellar.

The cellar was heavily smoke logged but the fire was quickly put out using a hose reel.

Firefighters used specialist ventilation equipment to clear the smoke.

Guests were quickly evacuated and no-one was hurt in the incident.

Firefighters left the scene just before 1am.
