M1 chaos as transporter overturns

A CAR transporter overturned closing parts of a motorway and causing long delays for drivers.

The vehicle shed its load on the M1 at Junction 39 near Wakefield yesterday just before
10.30am

Nine vehicles came off the transporter, which was being driven on the motorway’s northbound carriageway

One of the vehicles it had been carrying came to rest in the southbound carriageway. Another vehicle, inset, slipped down an embankment beside the motorway. There were no reports of serious injuries and both carriageways were fully reopened just before 6pm.
