Man and a dog rescued by fire brigade after getting stuck on river embankment in Skipton

One man and a dog were rescued by the fire service in North Yorkshire last night after getting stuck at the bottom of a 50 feet embankment.

The dog, called Shep, had run down the river chasing ducks near Bolton Priory and was deterred from returning by the swift current of the river and when a man, in his mid thirties attempted to rescue Shep, he also became trapped.

A fire crew from Skipton and the Incident support Unit from Ripon were called just after 7pm used a rope pack to winch Shep and his rescuer back to safety.
