Man found dead in river after police search

THE body of a man has been found in the river of a Pennine town in West Yorkshire following a police search.

The discovery was made by officers in Slaithwaite, near Huddersfield, at around 11.20am yesterday morning.

Police were looking for a 30-year-old man who had been reported missing when they discovered the body in the river near Bridge Street.

Formal identification had not taken place last night, but the missing man’s family were informed a body had been found.

A post-mortem examination will take place later today.
