Man rescued from River Ouse in York after falling from bridge

A man has been rescued from the River Ouse after falling from a bridge in York.

North Yorkshire Police were called to Ouse Bridge at about 7.15pm yesterday following reports of a man on the wrong side of the bridge.

The Ouse Bridge and roads in the area were closed while officers attempted to engage with the man.

The York rescue boat, ambulance service and North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service also attended the scene.

The man fell from the bridge into the river at about 8.55pm, a police spokeswoman confirmed.

He was rescued by emergency services and brought to a place of safety.

The man is not believed to have been injured in the incident.
