Motorcyclist, 65, killed in south Yorkshire crash named as witness appeal launched

POLICE have named the pensioner who died when the motorbike he was riding was involved in collision with a car in Rotherham at the weekend as an appeal to trace witnesses is launched.

Peter Heard, 65, suffered fatal injuries when the yellow Honda bike he was riding was involved in collision with a silver Vauxhall Zafira on Worrygoose Lane at Whiston, Rotherham, at around 12.50pm on Saturday. (Feb 18)

Mr Heard, of Rotherham, was taken to Sheffield's Northern General Hospital with life threatening injuries and died a short time later.

Police are urging another motorcyclist who may have witnessed the collision or events leading up to it to come forward. The incident happened on Worrygoose Lane near

its junction with Greystones Road.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "Did you witness this collision? Were you in the area at the time? Do you have any footage on your dashboard camera? Please call 101 and quote incident number 553 of the 18th February 2017."
