The East Yorkshire Motor Service single decker went through a garden wall and into the side of the house in Northgate just after 8am.

No one was in the house at the time.

There has been a suggestion that the bus swerved to miss a bin lorry before crashing into the house.

But EYMS Commercial Manager Bob Rackley said: “We don’t really know what’s happened. There was a bin lorry in the area but we don’t know whether or how it was involved. The driver will be interviewed and we will work closely with police. We understand there were some minor injuries.”

Humberside Police said: “Emergency services are working together to deal with the incident but early indications suggest only minor injuries to those involved.

“Northgate in Hessle is closed at this time.”
