Pictures emerge of Brighouse town centre sealed off after car crash involving police unit vehicle

Pictures have emerged of Brighouse town centre being sealed off after a serious car crash which also involved a police vehicle.

Several roads around Brighouse town centre have been closed following a serious car crash in the early hours of this morning.

These photos show a damage to a red car that has appeared to have crashed into barriers on the Ludenscheid Link.

A police car is also pictured on the back of a recovery truck in Bradford Road.

Emergency services are currently at the scene.

Calderdale Council has confirmed the there are road closures in place in Brighouse at the following locations:

Ludenscheid link (both ways), Commercial Street, King Street, Bradford Road (from Bethel Street) and Martin Street due to a road accident. Please avoid the area if you can.

It is not known at this time when the roads will re-open.

At 1.07am today (July 17) a car containing two men was involved in a collision in the town centre.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "Due to the involvement of a police vehicle in the circumstances leading up to the collision, the incident has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.

"A scene and road closures are in place in Bradford Road and are likely to remain in place for some time."
