It happened on Wakefield Road in Hemsworth at around 7.20pm.
West Yorkshire Police say there was only one car involved, a blue Renault Clio.
The driver suffered serious injuries and is currently in Leeds General Infirmary and police are now hoping to speak with anyone who saw the collision. Witnesses are asked to call PC Alan Wilson on 101.
