Rail services delayed after woman hit by train in Leeds

A woman has died after being hit by a train in Leeds.

Rail services were delayed following the death on the line at Cross Gates station this morning (Friday).

A British Transport Police (BTP) spokesman said: “Officers were called to Cross Gates rail station to a report that a person had been struck by a train.

“Officers from BTP and West Yorkshire Police attended the incident, which was reported to BTP at 11.15am and is currently being treated as non-suspicious.

“Medics from the Yorkshire Ambulance Service also attended but the person was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Officers are currently working to formally identify the person and inform their family.

“A file will be prepared for the Coroner.”

Trains on the lines to York and Selby were delayed by more than an hour but have now resumed normal service.
