Two lanes were closed on the westbound carriageway between junction 30 at Rothwell and junction 29 at Lofthouse after the HGV ended up on its side during rush hour.
Traffic was queuing to junction 32A, where the M62 meets the A1(M).
The Highways Agency tweeted: “Contractors working hard with lifting operation for overturned HGV. Take care passing scene!”
