Schoolboy, 14, dies in Sheffield crash

A 14-YEAR-OLD boy has died in hospital hours after being hit by a car as he left a school in Sheffield.

Lawrence Moorhouse, 14, suffered life-threatening injuries in the collision, which involved a silver Vauxhall Astra, on Beaumont Road North after he left Sheffield Park Academy at 4.15pm yesterday.

He was taken to Sheffield Children’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead this morning.

His parents have today paid tribute to the teenager and said: “Lawrence was a very popular young man who attended Sheffield Park Academy. He was well-liked and had lots of friends.

“We are devastated by his death and would like to ask to be left to grieve at this difficult time.”

A spokesman for the academy said: “We are deeply saddened by the loss of one of our students, Lawrence Moorhouse. He was a student in Year 9 and will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.”
