The incident took place between J27 for Gildersome and J26 for Chain Bar.

Traffic officers and the roads policing unit are on the scene.

Two lanes are running and recovery of the vehicles is underway.

Congestion in the area stretches back towards J28 for Tingley according to Highways England.
