Talent show star fights for life after car crash

Messages have been flooding in for Danny Ball, one half of martial arts duo Strike, who was last night in a critical but stable condition after his car collided with alorry.

The incident happened on Friday, at about 2.05pm, when a white Vauxhall Corsa, thought to have been being driven by Danny, was travelling along the A18 Tudworth Road from Hatfield towards the M180.

The Corsa collided with a white Mercedes lorry, travelling in the opposite direction.

Danny, aged 28, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

A passenger in the Corsa, believed to be Danny’s 22-year-old brother, was also taken to hospital, but his injuries are not thought to be serious.

Hundreds of people have taken to social media to wish the martial arts star well.

Doncaster Martial Arts Centre posted: “While we have had positive news about Danny over the weekend, he is still poorly and we know the road to recovery will be a long one.

“We’ll be there for you and your family in any way we can – you know you just have to say the word. Stay strong mate.”

Peter Thompson posted: “We know you are a born fighter and this is your biggest fight yet. We all know you can win.”

Danny found fame as part of the martial arts duo who made it to the final of the ITV talent show back in 2008, alongside Liam Richards, a former pupil at Waterthorpe Nursery Infants School in Sheffield.

The duo made it to the finals, with more than 15 million people tuning in to watch their high-energy routines combining martial arts, acrobatics, gymnastics and dance, all choreographed to music.
