The BMW is said to have been travelling towards Doncaster from junction one when it left the carriageway, ending up on its roof.

Gheorghe was thrown from the car and subsequently collided with a blue Citroen Picasso, travelling in the same direction. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

His family have released a photo of him while asking for their privacy to be respected.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said that two men travelling in the car, aged 18 and 19, suffered minor injuries, and while investigations continue they are keen to hear from anyone who saw the BMW prior to the collision as well as the driver of a blue articulated lorry with a yellow roof, who they believe may have seen what happened.
