Toddler airlifted to hospital after egg machine accident

A TODDLER had been airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary after getting her hand trapped in farm machinery near Knaresborough.

Police said the 18 month old girl is still in hospital and her hand injuries are serious but not life threatening.

Fire crews from Knaresborough and a heavy rescue unit from Ripon assisted ambulance crews in releasing the girl from machinery at a farm on Copgrove Lane, Farnham, near Harrogate.

Police said she had caught her hand in a conveyor belt used for packaging eggs.

Crews used a DeWalt saw to release the child who was then flown to Leeds General Hospital by air ambulance.

The Health and Safety Executive has been informed of the incident and is making enquiries.
