Train death shuts West Yorkshire train station

A TRAIN station in West Yorkshire has been closed after a man was hit by a train and killed.

Officers from British Transport Police (BTP) were called to Dewsbury Train Station just before 12.30pm today (August 20) after reports that a man had been struck by a train travelling through the station.

A spokeswoman for British Transport Police told the YEP that the train involved was the 10.48am Scarborough to Liverpool Lime Street TransPennine Express service and that at this point the death was not being treated as suspicious.

She added that those travelling in the area could expect possible delays to train services while investigations were being carried out.
