Two injured after car crashed into field near York

TWO men were taken to hospital after the car they were travelling in left the road before crashing in a field near York.

Police said the blue MG ZR was travelling towards Crockey Hill when it left Wheldrake Lane south of York before ending up on its roof in a field during the incident at around 5pm yesterday. (May 16)

A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “Both occupants of the car, two men, were taken to Leeds General Infirmary. The passenger was taken by air ambulance, suffering from serious injuries.”

The road was closed to allow police to investigate the scene and re-opened at 10pm.

Traffic Constable Mark Patterson of North Yorkshire Police, said: “I want to hear from any witnesses who saw the blue MG ZR as it travelled on Wheldrake Lane between the village and Crockey Hill, or the collision itself.”
