Update: Road in Wakefield is reopened after crash which left two injured

BLACK Road in the Heath area of Wakefield has been reopened more than six hours after a crash which left two drivers injured.

Police said the road, known locally as Pineapple Hill, was reopened just before 2pm today after an operation to clean oil from the road surface was completed following this moning's accident

Fire crews alerted police to the accident involving a blue Renualt Megane and a white Ford Ranger pick up truck just after 6am.

Firefighters cut the drive of the Ford Ranger free from the wreckage.

The 53-year-old man who was driving the Ford and the 25-year-old man who was driving the Renault were both taken to Leeds General Infirmary by ambulance.

Both men are receiving treatment for injuries which police said are not life-threatening.

Black Road was closed from the Pineapple pub to the junction with Hell Lane and traffic was being diverted along Hell Lane.
