Update: Six taken to hospital after pile-up on A64 in North Yorkshire

The A64 in North Yorkshire has reopened following a three-vehicle pile up.

Three vehicles – two cars and a van – were involved in what police described as a “serious” accident.

Six people have been taken to various hospitals by ambulance and air ambulance.

Officers were called to the scene, near Grimston Bar, around 1.30pm today.

The carriageway was shut in both directions between Fulford and Hopgrove for around three hours while emergency services were at the scene.

The road has now been reopened in both directions with an on-off diversion in place at Grimston Bar.

Drivers are being warned to expect delays and avoid the area if possible.
