Triple medal haul as brewer hits the spot

STAFF at an East Yorkshire brewery are toasting their success after scooping three awards at a regional competition.

Wold Newton-based Wold Top Brewery won gold for its best-selling Wold Gold in the Bottled Gold Beers category, and gold for Shepherd’s Watch in the Bottled Bitters (over five per cent ABV) category.

Shepherd’s Watch, a limited edition winter beer, also picked up silver in the overall Bottled Champion category at the Society of Independent Breweries (SIBA) North Region Beer Competition in Manchester.

Wold Top owner Tom Mellor said: “It’s a great accolade to have a professional seal of approval on these beers. The competition was tough, as the Northern SIBA region is the biggest in the country, with 122 beers being considered by 138 judges.”
