Trueman book hat-trick
The Yorkshire Post cricket correspondent Chris Waters has claimed a hat-trick of honours for his biography of former Yorkshire and England player Fred Trueman.
Waters’s book won Cricket Book of the Year at the British Sports Book Awards at a ceremony at the Savoy Hotel in London on Monday. He has also won the Wisden Book of the Year and the MCC/Cricket Society Book of the Year, both of which were presented in the Long Room at Lord’s. It is a unique clean sweep of cricket book awards.
“I’m really thrilled for Fred Trueman’s family that the book has been honoured,” said Waters. “They were a tremendous help to me when I was writing the book, as were Fred’s former team-mates, in particular Bob Platt.”
