TV blow for Sky’s world boxing fans

Sky has apologised to customers after its coverage of David Haye’s fight with Wladimir Klitschko was hit by technical problems.

The broadcaster said it had an “issue” with new telephone and online bookings for Saturday night’s World Heavyweight unification bout due to “unprecedented demand”.

The glitch meant many sport fans were unable to order the £14.95 pay-per-view fight. During the contest, which saw British fighter Haye lose on points, Sky’s Twitter feed urged those experiencing problems to go to their nearest pub. Sky made free replays of the fight available to all customers yesterday.
