TV presenter lends backing to hospice

TELEVISION presenter Julia Bradbury was yesterday named as a new patron of St Luke’s Hospice in Sheffield.

The Countryfile regular grew up in Sheffield and said she was keen to support the city’s only hospice, which last year celebrated its 40th anniversary and is now about to launch a £5m extension and renovation programme.

She said: “Coming from Sheffield means I have heard so much about the great work that St Luke’s does for Sheffield people.

“Knowing how much St Luke’s means to so many families across the city, it is a pleasure and an honour to be asked to give my support to the hospice.”

St Luke’s director of fundraising and communications, Una Moran, said it was “great news” to have Ms Bradbury’s support.

She added: “As we embark on our refurbishment project, it’s good to know that we have the backing of such a high-profile patron as Julia to help us encourage even more supporters and fundraisers.

“Julia and all our friends across Sheffield understand the importance of the work St Luke’s is doing and they are as committed as we are to ensuring that work continues.”
