TV’s Antiques Roadshow comes to abbey

Filming took place in July when more than 3,700 people visited the World Heritage Site near Ripon in North Yorkshire, bringing along items large and small to be valued by the experts.

Some of Britain’s leading antiques and fine art specialists were on hand to offer advice and valuations.

Queues of people and objects snaked around the 12th century abbey ruins throughout the day and a number of interesting items were discovered – accompanied by some very surprised owners.

The show, presented by Fiona Bruce, will be screened at 8pm on BBC One.
