He remains in hospital with serious injuries, believed to be self-inflicted, which are not life-threatening.

Yesterday family members laid flowers at the family home in Reinwood Road, Oakes.

One message said: “Aunty Emma, sleep tight, we love you so much, your now with Charlie watching over us. I can never say bye, just see you because I will see you again. Love you.”

It is believed that Charlie was a son she lost to meningitis.
