Two in custody after death of four-month-old

Police said they were called to an address on Foldings Avenue, in the Scholes area of Cleckheaton, yesterday after concerns were raised for the infant’s safety.

A four-month-old girl was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

A West Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said yesterday afternoon: “A 19-year-old woman and 21-year-old man were arrested in connection with the incident and remain in custody.”

Officers have yet to release further details about the incident, or the youngster’s identity, with a postmortem examination expected to establish the cause of her death.

Uniformed police stood guard outside the flat yesterday as forensic examinations were carried out inside.
