Two die after car hits tree in Ilkley

The crash happened on Denton Road in Ben Rydding in Ilkley at around 3.30am.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “A Hyundai Coupe containing three occupants collided with a tree. The vehicle was travelling in the direction of Otley.

“A 35 year-old woman and a 32 year-old year old man were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, a 37 year old man, sustained cuts and internal injuries. He was taken to Leeds General Infirmary for treatment.”

Enquiries into the circumstances of the incident are ongoing.
