Two held in Dewsbury fraud probe

A MAN and a woman have been arrested after search warrants were executed in Dewsbury in connection with an ongoing fraud investigation.

Officers from West Yorkshire Police's Economic Crime Unit, supported by the Operations Support Division, the Underwater Search Unit and Dewsbury Neighbourhood Policing Team, executed the warrants on Thursday at addresses on Scarborough Street, Wormalds View and Bretton Street.

During the search of a house on Scarborough Street officers seized around 4,000 in cash, a 4x4 car, a small quantity of what it is believed to be cannabis and two televisions.

A 35-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of money laundering, interviewed by detectives and released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Detective sergeant Ian Harding said: "Investigations into negative role models continue across the force and residents are asked to report any suspicions they have about those who appear to be living way beyond their means to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 and ask the question why should they?"
