Two women killed in Leeds lorry crash

TWO women died when their car was involved in a collision with a lorry on the outskirts of north Leeds last night. A third woman, aged 84, was critically injured.

The accident happened on Otley Road between Harewood and Arthington, when three women in a Vauxhall Corsa were in collision with a heavy goods vehicle.

The driver, aged 59, and front seat passenger, aged 85, died at the scene.

The other passenger was taken to Leeds General Infirmary where she was said to be in a critical but stable condition.

Police closed the roads around the crash scene for several hours.

The driver of the HGV was not injured.
