Hannah Young, 28, paid for the designer eyewear known as Doggles after becoming concerned about her greyhound Sanford having to squint in the sunlight.

Five-year-old Sanford has now become attached to his new accessory after they were recommended by White Cross Vets in Guiseley, and wears them during his daily walks.

Ms Young, 28, a merchandiser from Mirfield, said: “Sanford has always struggled with the sun. If we used to sit out in the garden his body would be out in the sunlight and we’d have to keep his head in the shade.

“I wanted to protect Sanford from the sunlight as it has been really strong over the last few weeks so when our vet recommended it I thought we’d give it a go.

“He is my best friend and I don’t want his eyesight to become damaged just because I wanted to take him for a walk in the sun.

“I can now enjoy the sun alongside my best pal and I actually think they really suit him and he’s clearly loving wearing them.”

The Met Office says this will “clear away erratically during the late afternoon, with some bright or sunny spells developing”.

The weather from tomorrow until Thursday is expected to be largely dry.
