Back in ... Hyde Park

Bruce Springsteen is to return as a headline act for the Hard Rock Calling festival next year.

The musical legend will be the main attraction on the Saturday night of the event on July 14, three years after he last topped the bill.

Springsteen – the first of the headliners to be announced – will perform with his E Street Band, which lost long-time saxophone player Clarence Clemons in the summer following a stroke.

Promoter Toby Leighton-Pope said: “It’s great to welcome Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band back to Hyde Park. They always put on a fantastic show and 2012 is set to be a special one.”

About 150,000 people are expected to attend.
